Animals In Need was founded in 2006 to alleviate suffering to strays, injured and abandoned animals in Co Donegal by a group of volunteers who saw a need for this service.

During this time we have developed a brilliant working relationship with both the Council, the public, other rescues, local vets, and we are known for our compassion towards animals.

Many of the dogs we get are owner- surrendered, many are failed sheep dogs or collie pups that can't be trained for sheep.
We also go to the County Pound on a regular basis to rescue strays and abandoned dogs.

We run a successful TNR program (Trap Neuter Return) for feral cats, helping to control the population aswell as our 2 helplines and social media where people contacts us for help and advise.

Many of our cat helpline calls, come from farmers and elderly who likes to keep a few cats for natural rodent control but dont want them breeding.
We assist them with practical and financial help to control the problem.

All our work is done by volunteers, no one in our organisation gets paid for their work which is all done for the love of the animals.
The volunteers are the backbone of our organisation, sitting up at night with bottle kittens.
With up to 90 animals in our care at any one time our main expenses are vet costs, feed, and general running cost of the rescue.
