Edenderry Community First Responders
Edenderry Community First Responders was formed in March 2022 in response to a number of prominent cardiac incidents in the town.
All our volunteer responders are available 24/7 to respond when activated by the National Ambulance Service (NAS). During this time, if somebody in our coverage area calls 999/112 reporting a cardiac arrest, stroke, chest pain, or choking an ambulance will be dispatched and simultaneously the Edenderry CFR mobile phone will be alerted of the nature of the call and address of the incident. As the responders are within a close radius we almost always reach the patient before the ambulance and will have started CPR and attached the defibrillator if appropriate.
Each responder is notified of the incident and they make their own way to the scene and work together to treat the patient. New volunteers are always paired up with experienced volunteers to gain experience during their first few calls.
