Galway Contact

Galway Contact Is a voluntary organisation founded in 1981. Our main aim is to help older people who feel lonely and isolated, through weekly visits and social interaction.

Organisation objective:
Is to hold out a hand of friendship, a friendly face and supportive voice for our older people in Galway.

Services:

- Befriending service: each garda vetted volunteer visits their older friend each week to provide friendship and company, thus reducing loneliness

- Social outings/clubs: we bring older people to weekly lunch clubs and to our own morning club, providing transport for those who need it.

- Seniors Alert Scheme personal alarms: we process hundreds of applications for personal alarms each year assisting people from all over Co. Galway to apply and get approved, thereby providing them with peace of mind and keeping them safe so they can live at home for as long as possible

- Annual events: we organise several annual events for older people throughout the year so they can meet friends and enjoy much needed social engagement.
