Lifelink Kilkenny

The vision of Lifelink is to promote the mental health and wellbeing of our community and to contribute to the prevention of suicide and self-harm by sharing information, breaking down barriers, reducing stigma and influencing service delivery.

Our vision is to promote the mental health and wellbeing of our community and to contribute to the prevention of suicide and self-harm by sharing information, breaking down barriers, reducing stigma and influencing service delivery.

We realise this by:

building new and strengthening old relationships between community and statutory organisations in Kilkenny;
by being a collaborative voice on issues relating to suicide, mental health and wellbeing locally and nationally;
by contributing to the development and implementation of ‘Connecting for Life Kilkenny’ and any other relevant national or local plans
by working with communities to promote mental health and reduce suicide through all available media platforms
by identifying, supporting and actioning projects aimed at mental health promotion and suicide prevention including annually a seminar for World Suicide Prevention Day in September and a week of events in October for International Mental Health Day
Membership is open and includes:
Community and voluntary organisations - The Samaritans, Teac Tom, Mental Health Ireland, Kilkenny Bereavement Support Services and GROW,
HSE organisations including the Mental Health Forum and TASK
Peer Engagement and Recovery Organisations such as the Recovery College South East, The Involvement Centre and Shine
Local agencies - An Garda Siochana, Kilkenny Library Service and Kilkenny LEADER Partnership
A key message that Lifelinkk wants to share with you on behalf of these groups is this:

There are lots of things you can do to help your own mental health like managing a healthy lifestyle, connecting with friends and family, taking part in activities you enjoy, but it is important to get help if you or someone you know is struggling, going through a crisis, or thinking about suicide.

Help is available - this page outlines the resources available to you in Kilkenny and online. We also promote events for mental health at various times during the year such as World Mental Health week in October. If you or your group wish to get involved we would love to hear from you.
