Who are Mullingar Arch Club?

We are a social/ activity club that caters for adults with additional needs

o Community group registered with Westmeath County Council & Westmeath Community Development
o Affiliated with Youth Work Ireland
o Affiliated with The national federation of Arch Clubs (1976)
o PPN Member since 2019
o Child and vulnerable adult protection training providers (external training)
o Garda vetting system in place
o Fully insured
o GDPR Compliant
Our aims are to provide a social outlet for our members; to develop the members social skills, self-esteem
and quality of life through a dynamic range of activities; to provide support and information for service
providers and families; to influence public policy towards those with special needs through contact with
statutory agencies.

· We have 116 members, of which 68 are men and 48 women
· We have two age groups: Youth club 13 to 25/ Adult group 21 to 99
· We are volunteer led and driven, with 9 committee members, 5 core volunteers, and 4 staff members who have an intellectual disability
· Our tuition is provided by LWETB, Music Generation and private tutors.
· We also host work placements on behalf of the National Learning Network and LWETB.

We were founded in May 2016 and have been running social events since then. Our team of volunteers and
committee members is made up of family members, SNA’s, disability professionals and healthcare workers,
alongside local musicians, artists and yoga instructors.

What do we do?

Our club is currently based in Columb Barracks Mullingar, and we offer the following to our members:

o Recreational and social activities in the form of weekly club sessions, trips to cinema, restaurants, etc.

o Educational and therapeutic activities in the form of Art classes, computers, yoga, music, drama groups, aromatherapy and beauty/ wellbeing sessions, animal care, fitness and walking groups, indoor sports, and cooking, see schedule

o We invite local services such as the guards, Mullingar first responders, relaxation coaches, ambulance crews, chefs, hairdressers etc for informative lectures. See “current activities”.
Who do we cater for?

We are fully inclusive and have members with autism, down syndrome, prada villi syndrome, general
Intellectual disability, ADHD, and hyperactivity disorder. Approximately 25% of our members also have
physical disabilities, including sight and hearing impairments. We include all of our members in forward
planning, and we hold monthly planning sessions.
