Sligo Children's Community Garden

Sligo Children’s Community Garden promotes physical and mental well-being for all ages, fostering learning and environmental awareness. Economically, we cultivate and share food, supporting families and promoting healthy eating habits for societal benefit. Additionally, we nurture community bonds and outdoor education for children in a natural setting. Based in Sligo, we set up SCCG in the summer of 2020.

The founding members, Fiona, Jenny, Kylie and Trisha, wanted to create an outdoor growing and learning space, to help promote biodiversity, the grow your own ethos, and raise environmental awareness among children and families alike.
We have been fortunate enough to have artist Ruth Le Gear join us. Ruth is linked to the Sligo Children's Community Garden for different projects and creative processes, which have expanded and blossomed involvement of many generations within our community. We host family days and parent/carer and toddler groups in our poly tunnel.
